This is about my name and how i see it. I always introduce myself with "I am Afifah", not "My name is Afifah". I do it on purpose, of course. The reason is because Afifah is not only a name for me, but it's also my identity, hopefully.
You know what? Afifah comes from Arabic. So, it's actually 'Afifah, not Afifah. The letter isn't a but 'ain that will be found only in Arabic. So, it's 'Afifah and it means "a woman who saves her honor".
"A woman who saves her honor". See, it's beautiful and meaningful as well. I do love it.
My parents named me that way as a prayer for me. And i'm convinced they want it to be my identity. Not only a name that people will call me by, but also a name that people will identify me by.
I know it's not easy to be 'Afifah, but i tried and keep trying to be the honorable me, to be the real 'Afifah. Insya Allah.
One thing for sure, name does mean. So, how do you see your name?
